Brief & Context

The Beach Almond Restaurant rescues and old fishing shack at the northern end of Palm Cove. A very cost effective conversion and extendion that has provided new economic life to the site.

The shack has a new commercial kitchen, bar, toilets and small internal dining room. The major extension is an open deck structure, reminiscent of a jetty or Borneo long house.

The jetty deck attracts attention as it juts out to the footpath as well as providing diners with fabulous sea views out to Double Island. Big strutted overhangs keep the rain out, and roll down plastic blinds deal with the southerly winds.
